Pediatrics
Learn about this medical specialty and the types of care delivered by our board-certified pediatricians.
Pediatrics is a branch of medicine that focuses on the care and treatment of childhood diseases and the study of normal growth. Physicians who specialize in pediatrics are known as pediatricians.
Pediatricians are trained to recognize and treat congenital defects and provide care for a number of infectious diseases in children. Many of these diseases can be prevented by immunization, which is the responsibility of the pediatrician. In addition, a pediatrician remains alert for disorders that usually first become apparent in childhood, such as allergies or immune deficiency diseases.
At Matthews Children's Clinic, our board-certified pediatricians provide comprehensive medical care to all children, from newborns to teens. Services include:
- Immunizations
- Physical exams
- Acute care for illness and minor injuries
- Routine hearing and eye exams
